Old Friends
June 8, 2013

I ran into some old friends today. Long ago friends. Friends from a different life. Friends I haven’t connected with in over a decade and a half. Good friends. But even as I was there, just a few steps away, I couldn’t bring myself to say Hi. Instead I turned and walk the other way. Why? Perhaps it was my own fear of “What will they think of me now?” or “Maybe they don’t even remember me anymore?” or perhaps it was the message from our social media world that has inundated us and said “I’ll just find them on FB later rather then taking up their time now.” Hmmmm. . . . lost friendships make me sad. But, just in case they do find me on FB, here goes: “Hi!!!!! It’s been so long! How are you doing?!?!?!? I’ve thought about you a lot and wondered what you’ve been up to. How’s your family? I miss seeing your mom and dad and even your little sister. Me? My life is wonderful! I love my family and I’m so proud of my kids. I’m so in love with my family that we are working to adopt two more kids this next year. We’re really excited. But even as blissful as my life it, I’ve always wondered what life would be like if you were still in it. At times I really miss your friendship. Though it was a long time ago, you had a significant impact on my life and helped shape the person I am today. I’m sorry we didn’t connect today. Maybe we’ll have another opportunity in the not so distant future. Dios te bendiga”

We’ve had a lot of requests lately for our birth stories and pregnancy information (ie: Fun Facts)
I’ve categorized all of these posts under “Pregnancy and Childbirth”

You can find the link at the very bottom of the page (scroll all the way down).  There are two pages, so when you get to the bottom, you can click on “previous entries”

Cars Land Preview Night!
June 12, 2012

Once again, I did it!  I got us into some place we were not suppose to be – and for free!!

Disney’s California Adventure is opening their new Cars Land next week and in anticipation had a “soft” opening for annual pass holders – but you had to enter into a drawing and get your name drawn to get into the preview nights.  And I did neither.  Didn’t even know about the drawing or the preview nights.  We just happened to be at Ca Adventure and saw that Cars Land was going in full swing, but there was this annoying hedge/fence around it so you couldn’t see inside.  Curiosity overwhelmed me and I started asking what was going on.  Put all the pieces together and noticed the bright green wristbands people were wearing, we stood outside one of the exits and found a mom and son leaving.  I asked them for their wristbands (which we slipped off her wrist) and next thing I know – we’re inside Cars Land!!!  (before it’s opened to the public)  We were overcome with excitement and thrilled!  Such a fun experience and story to tell to our great great grandkids!

Luke’s Dedication
May 8, 2012

At the end of April, we had the privilege of dedicating Luke at Newport Mesa Church.  The purpose of a baby dedication is two fold.  First, it is us, the parents, publically saying that we intend to raise Luke with Biblical, Christian foundations and guidance and, secondly, it’s the church saying that they will support and encourage us in that endeavor.  The life verse that we choose for Luke is Matthew 11:12 “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”  It is our hope that Luke one day chooses for himself to follow Christ and accepts his forgiveness and salvation and that he becomes one of those “forceful” or purposeful men who aggressively strives after the kingdom of heaven.

“Bruders”

We were so happy that my parents were able to join us!

Hey Howdy Ho!

Growing and moving!  Luke is almost 1 and crawling like a mad man everywhere.  Keith is the proud big “bruder” and loves his little “bruder” (although at times he loves Luke a little too much).   Here we are at Pretend City:

Crash & Burn
March 6, 2012

ahhh, technology . . . here to make our lives easier, right?   Well I’ve never been one to be a huge techy geek.  But my husband is pretty good when it comes to computers, so when our laptop was having problems, he devised a plan to download all of our info from our computer onto an external hard drive so he could “wipe the laptop clean” and then reload everything.  Great plan huh?  Well it all worked fine until we tried to reload everything back onto the laptop only to discover that the hard drive was corrupt.  Nice huh?  Every file, every project, every document, plus A full year of pictures gone . . . All Gone.  I’m still holding out hope that someone, somewhere would be able to retrieve it, but that only gets a scowling look from my husband that tells me that all of these things are really gone.  But, how do you let go of a full year of pictures that included all my maternity pictures and the first 8 months of our sons life?

Welcome Yuri!
January 29, 2012

We are so excited to have a new student from Japan join us this Feb! Her name is Yuri and we have the room all ready for her! Keith is so excited to have someone to play with him and he can’t wait to show off his trampoline and to go to the park. We have a full menu of wonderful food planned including Pizza, Tacos, Hamburgers (of course!) and a few down home southern casseroles. Anyone else have any suggestions of good American food?
We can’t wait to meet Yuri! I’ll keep everyone posted once we finally get to meet her!
